Season 3

Producer’s Cut: Mental Health x Teens

Producer’s Cut: Mental Health x Teens
Season 3 kicked-off with a live Twitter Spaces chat between Vanderbilt Health experts and Nashville-area teens.

Possibly the only thing more complex than mental health is the mental healthcare landscape.

Mental health is everywhere. It’s in music, sports headlines and not only discussed but celebrated on the internet. “It’s okay to not be okay” is practically a mantra.

Still, mental health is dripping with stigma—both conscious and subconscious—that makes it a pervasive and sticky problem that is also unique to each generation, race and gender. The work to break down those stigmas and deliver the help people need in the way they need it is the focus of this four-part series that first kicked-off with a live Twitter Spaces chat between Vanderbilt Health experts and Nashville-area teens.

The conversations throughout the series inspired the collection of mental health resources available at the bottom of this page.

In a first for the DNA podcast, we hosted a live conversation on Twitter. The discussion featured experts from Vanderbilt Health and teens from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Middle Tennessee and addressed how to break through the stigma.
